Bit embarrassing. But a lot happier. After 3.9 service..

Well the title says it all.
I pride myself on my ability to fix things. Cars . Engel's .tv phones etc etc .
With the td5 waiting parts and driving the d1 a bit more, after the head gasket replacement from pulled head bolt threads.
I knew she was running rough(rich with a back fire) only 250kms to the tank.

I got down and did a full service.(fuel useage was the driver)
And noticed the spark plug leads where different location to my other 3.9.
A look on google. Fixed the problem.

It looks like the old owner(a mechanic)
    Had placed the leads incorrectly.
When I replaced the left hand gasket I just put them back into the same spot.
Well the 3.9 does get up a lot better. The zf22 does not wont to change up and down as much..
And im really liking the feel and that wonderful sound of a Rover v8 at revs.
As well as guys I work for .I really give it to them with their 200s. They are all asking is that got a chevy in it.
Na mate standard motor standard exhaust. Might of turned a few to the green side

Sought of thinking the td5 might be getting sold for a Defender...

Im in Love again ....at least for this week..

Didn't it pop, backfire and carry on ? I managed to do the same thing when I put new plugs, dizzie cap, rotor button and leads onto the old Rangie here last week. There was no doubt I "somehow" buggered up the leads as soon as it started.

Helpfully land rover don't record the firing order or the cylinder numbers anywhere under the bonnet, so I had to go hit google to figure it out.

I thought it ran nicely before.... It runs waaaayyyy better now, I found corrosion under the plugs leads where they plug into the dizzie cap. I also advanced the ignition to 10degrees which it seems quite happy with ( it's a low compression engine running LPG).

I thought this was a really good deal.

Roughly how often should you replace the cap and rotor?

    Depends on so much..
    Spark plugs from 50000 on
Rotor cap and button If I not mistaken is mm based or condition.
Only just got back into petrols. But when I had a v8 farlane. They where so cheap I did them every 4th oil change .
But I was running advanced timing and 370hp..
