Thread: Fitting 245/75r16

just fitted this size to mine. bfg AT KO. i have standard rims and standard height. needed minor camel cut at the back and adjust steering stops which still rub on the radius arm at full adjustment so need more investigation.

but according to everyone here mine is a peculiar case as everyone else with 245/75 has been able to adjust it ok.

what size rims are the standard rims, I have heard there are factory steel rims and factory alloys

Also on these standard rims in relation to the outer most point of the wheel arch, where does the outer edge of the tire sit

Standard is 16x7, +33 offset for both steel and alloy.


Tyre will sit fairly well in with standard rims, but rear of the wheel arch on the back will need a trim as mentioned.

If anyone has these tires fitted to standard rims, would it be too much trouble to measure the gap between the outside edge of the tire to the outer most part of the wheel arch.

I need to buy new wheels as well, and I am trying to work out the best offset (out of the available offset for Disco rims) so would like to know how much space I have to work with.

Is there any clearance issues on the outside edge, do I need to leave a certain amount of space between the outer wheel edge and the wheel arch?

They can just rub

Kinda hard to measure but i have roughly 16-18mm from the corner of the tyre to the wheel arch panel

Thanks heaps that should help heaps

You dont need new rims to fit 245's , stock rims in alloy or steel work fine.
You only need wider or off set rims for 265 + tyre widths.
