Unfortunately it was my wife she is in hospital but reasonably alright. She hit the first tree at 90kph then took out two more. Cops said if she had been in anything else it would have been a different story.

Good to hear she is reasonably OK............looks like it could have been very nasty.

Hope the ducks appreciate the effort...

Hope your wife is on the mend. My sister wrote off a Nissan Pathfinder after swerving for a lizard on a country road, left the road and flipped many times into a paddock. Carrying a film crew and all their gear. All walked away, relatively unharmed, despite no cargo barrier. I'm one for brake in a straight line and run over whatever it is.
The alternative isn't always so lucky.

Hope the good lady improves soon.
I was once slagged off at a roadhouse by a following vehicle steerer that watched me slay a mother duck and her point of flight ducklings.I should have swerved or stopped to miss them as they crossed in my path at 110kmh,apparently.
Wished them well, told them to make sure when they swerve to miss wildlife I hope they survive.
Big lesson here, brake hard when any wildlife or livestock is an issue, steer straight, metal can be fixed or replaced, ending up in the trees after a swerve is always going to end up bad.

By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.
