Disco front brake calipers
Hi,
Currently changing seals & pistons in the front calipers - I have noticed some reluctance in splitting the calipers - I haven't done it yet but it looks easier [on a u-tube vdo ] I appreciate any input while waiting for the bits to arrive.
thanks

I rebuilt mine a while ago and I read comments on the forum saying it would be difficult to get the two half to seal again. So I did mine without separating them. A bit fiddly, but completely doable. Finding something flat to help drive the steel retainer in square was the key.

P.s. Don't throw away the old bits until you're complete. Worst case you wreck one of the steel retainers, you can reuse one of the old ones.

Have your seal kits got the Channel seals in them? If so there's no great mystry to splitting them. And yes the dust seal retainers are a main in the arse

Thanks for the info Guys,
The seal kit and pistons have just arrived and no they didn't include channel seals - I ordered a spare seal kit for $10 just in case I wrecked some installing them.
I will have a go without splitting them - are they a standard round seal between the halves? as I have both metric and imp seal kits here.

Disco Calipers
Yep thanks, installed pistons & seals without splitting the calipers - I had to reduce my brutality down to a piece of wood dowel and a very small hammer for the dust seals - I hunted down my Haynes workshop manual that I had with my '83 2 door Rangey and find its quite useful for the older Disco stuff...
