If you are after a second hand one try to get one from a person who owned the car but is wrecking it and ask them about it. You don't know what your getting from the wrecker. But yes, pressure test a must. Also, drench and let the second hand one swim in kero overnight and then flush, flush, flush.

...I know that time is the issue though re. sourcing one.

    Thanks for all of that.

I'm thinking of replacing mine - '95 Classic Softdash as the core had been previously replaced... by nation-wide radiator company... I'd say the PO had stipulated the cheaper, now 'obsolete', core.. which eventually started leaking around the core-tank seam.

Due to $$, I had it rodded/cleaned and re-soldered by a LR specialist and whilst his workmanship was good, the material - or lack of it... - he had to work with means that the same side tank is now trying to come away from the core...

At the time, getting it re-cored with the appropriate one would have co$t around $500.

Should have taken his suggestion and done it then.. Sarah is confined to carport during very hot weather, as I've got other D-Ds and no point in stressing her/not willing to take ANY risks.

Anyway, I've been looking at evilbay ones, like this...

but I'm thinking it may be good money thrown after bad.

The car may not last much longer, SWMBO has correctly pointed out that (a) I don't use it much due to its Drinking problem, and
    (b) One more rego and insurance...

Stray currents are not that difficult to measure & deal with, IMHO

On the other hand, if any D1 owners succumbed to temptation, feel free to PM me with their experiences.

( I Promise to NOT tell anyone... )

Had a radiator go on me a day or so ago. As to why im yet to find that out. Suspect it must be a head but thats another story.

I need to replace the current radiator as the bottom has split.
I have spotted some alloy ones that are cheap. $300

If i get an original im up for twice that cost.
My question is are those alloy ones any good for these cars?
I do a lot of low range off road stuff.
I cant help but think these alloy jobs will heat up too quick in those situations?
I can pick up a second hand pressure tested one for $160 from a local wreckers. Not sure i want to go the second hand option though.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
