Check the head gasket out behind #4 cylinder, which might be problematic in the Disco.
The Tdi has a habit of blowing through the gasket staright at the firewall here and you'll get the choof choof typical of a manifold gasket leak.

Thanks mate, I read about a few of these issues. My mechanic will let me know if the head gasket needs doing when he pulls the manifold. Driving it today without the extra load it felt as it always had power wise. The chuff/ticking changed to a scream at high rpm under load

That sounds like what I spent ages tracking down, it ended up being the front two bolts on the exhaust manifold were lose.

Might pay to run a spanner over them, you might not need a new gasket.

Well, I feel like a goose😒Turns out an exhaust manifold stud and nut went awol😨it was the last one at the end of the head near the firewall. Ticking noise at idle now gone😀. I thought that last hole in the manifold was supposed to be empty, until I saw a video of the gasket being removed and replaced. 😞

Ha ! I've had that one go AWOL too.

A bolt lived there as a 'temporary' measure for about two years before replacing with a stud and nut.

My local auto parts had the studs but only brass nuts *sorry monkey* so I used a flange nut in M10X1.50 from my collection 😅😅😅
