Radiator - Tropical Mod - V8
Looking at radiator options for a auto V8.
I see lots of references for 300TDI's to a blanking plate with large hole in the tank and suggestions for smaller hole/blocking to improve cooling. My poor googlefu does not show anything for the V8.
Vehicle in question is driveable and want to keep it like that until before a move on permit from where it can't be worked on to essentialy wrecking (conversion of another one from manual to auto)- So:
Does the V8 have this blanking plate/hole?
Does smaller hole/blanking improve cooling?

I am not sure what you're actually asking, but to give you an indication of a proper well maintained car will survive:
My car ran at idle for about 6 hours in 35c and 70% humidity, whilst bogged over the front diff and car on its chassis.
That was under no load, but it was hot, with no circulation of air in high ambient temperatures. I also drove Melb-Darwin over four days through the stinking hot too. Once again unloaded as I haven't towed with it.
If the mod is related to towing, then I'd probably disregard what I have posted!

The difference between a 300TDi radiator and a V8 one (apart from size) is that the 300TDi one has the inlet and outlet on the same side. This means that the coolant passes across the core twice, apart from what goes through the bypass hole. The V8 radiator does not have this problem, the inlet and outlet are on opposite sides. If a V8 engine has a problem with rapid overheating your problem is likely to be much more dire, eg a cracked block.

not entirely sure what you are asking, but V8 radiator has in on the left and out on the right, with a small breather top left. Plenty on the internet/ebay etc.

Reason for the query is basically zero timing a D1. Seems like redback core is the way to go but limited knowledge of what the real problems and solutions actually are.
See why the TDI flow goes left -right - left and possibly an ideal V8 flow would go left - right - left - right but as an end user the optinium is beyond me
