    Disco 1 diff breathers

Hi. I busted out a rear hub seal and was leaking diff oil everywhere. I replaced the seal but I was told it could be because my diff breather was blocked. I tried to blow some air through the breather line from the diff end but I'm not sure if it's working or not. Does anyone know how to check it? Cheers.

Should be able to unscrew it from diff housing, give it a clean with degreaser and flush it out, blow some air through to check and screw it back in, Regards Frank.

    Hi,
I had the same problem on my defender, and it was the breather, when I unscrewed it, it was full of crud and corruption. There is one small hole going across the fitting, which I opened up a tad, and punched right through. That was only a few months ago, so no long term report available.....Gumnut

I ended up changing mine with diff breathers located in my engine bay.
Small cost and piece of mind knowing no crap will get in there again.

Not a great pic but you get the idea.
As said above. Just unscrew from the diff housing.
Front ends around the firewall and back ends around the diff well.
I found the old hoses get hard and cruddy so thats why i replaced.
Filters are a good idea and mounting in engine bay for piece of mind.

Cheers guys. I'll have a crack at blowing them out. Maybe a good idea to extend them.
