    VDO Digital Boost Gauge Error

Thought I would start a new one seeing as the cylinder head one is finished (fingers crossed).

Installed a vdo digital boost gauge tonight. Soon as ignition comes on it reads 53. When engine runs it doesn't change. When driving it doesn't change.

I'm thinking it's an error message for bad earth. Anyone installed one of the digital gauges? The instructions said i can earth it to dash metal. There is a bar under the fuse box with screw holes. I attached it here. Same as my engine saver.

For a positive (good) earth (no pun intended) run a wire from the Negative terminal of your battery through the firewall and connect to your earth wire on the gauge, Regards Frank.

sounds like a weekend job. dont really need it right now. might run a wire around the outside first to test if this will fix it. might not be earthing issue. the thing is hard to see as well. not very bright and there's no brightness adjuster or extra wire which connects to the lighting circuit.

figured it out. i had both connections from sender going to wires at the gauge. one of the sender connections needs to go straight to earth, the other goes to gauge. the spare wire on gauge is connected to light switch if you want the gauge to go dimmer at night. the gauge has an earth as well as a positive. so wired it up wrong and the unit goes to max measurement by default. once i get a clear diagram ill post details here.
