Weak or intermittent contact can cause this.

The lights (check both socket and wiring plug at the back) in the rear bumper are renowned for rotting out creating this scenario.

Cheers. I had a look today and I noticed the front holders were not making great contact so I readjusted them. Now they are working fine. Hoping they hold on.
