    indicators flashing fast

    Hi,

I have a 1996 Disco V8 and my indicators are flashing fast. I've checked to see if I any bulbs are out, but all are ok. My hazard lights flash at the normal slower pace.

Can someone point me in the right direction to help diagnose the fault?

Could it be a faulty relay?

It has a tow bar so not sure if that is part of the problem.

    Thanks

Conventional indicator cans are designed to run fast if the load per side is less than two full size globes, say around 36 watts minimum. This is for indicating a bulb failure. So the likely causes are: a lower value bulb has been fitted to either the front or the rear (5W or 10W instead of 21W), or the lamps have been replaced with LEDs and the correct load resistors not fitted as well.

I don't think that is the problem.

Unless each globe is tested individually you cant be sure they are good.

No they cause the dash trailer symbol to flash fast , globes can look ok but be dodgy.

I thought incandescent globes were 'all or nothing'. They either illuminate when powered, or they don't.

When OP implied that none of the globes were 'out' I assumed that all were 'operational / illuminating'.

A globe tester: someone who stands behind the vehicle and when asked if the indicator is alight shouts

"Yes no yes no yes no yes no yes no..."
