oil pressure when idle and air con on

was just wondering. my madman set the alarm off today whenever i was idling at lights etc and the aircon was running. usually once warm it cruises with a pressure of around 45psi. when idling its about 23psi. when idling and air con is running it drops to 19psi, which sets off my madman alarm (ive set it to 20psi). should i reset my limits to 15psi so that it doesnt go off or is this too low? anyone here have an oil pressure gauge and know what pressures your engine runs at?

My 3.5 V8 in the 101 (52,000KM) sits on 100KPA at idle which is around 14PSI and I've never had any dramas. It sits on 250KPA at highway speed (35PSI)

My old clapped out Rangie with 360,000KM on it used to bring the oil pressure light on when it was hot - I think that was around 5PSI, but that engine was shagged. Mind you, it never made any nasty noises when sitting there at the lights with the light flickering away...

I'd reset your madman. You oil pressures are excellent....my gauge on td5 used to show about 11-35 normal driving. Only higher when engine was still warming up.

I don't know if 300tdi runs at higher oil pressure than td5.

blcknight dave , where are you?

your fine, but you might do better to raise the idle setting to be at the nominal idle speed when the AC compressor is engaged.

Well theres some relays which you can hear ticking under the steering wheel and also behind the glove box. They seem to be controlling idle. When it starts to chugger a bit you can hear it click and it ups the idle for a few seconds. Not sure what the oil pressure does at this time. I was switching the ac off when the beep was annoying me.

My MadMan now shows oil pressures all over the place..its faulty I think. even with a 5Bar sender and set to 5 Bar the darn thing can still show 8 Bar...its all over the shop.

However prior to that happening, mine would be around 1 Bar at idle (14psi) - HOT, the AC made no difference, as Dave said check the idle speed with AC on. My running pressure was the same as yours. As RPM drops so does the pressure...so maybe your AC idle is too low.
