    oil cooler and engine immobiliser

i have a 1994 300TDi manual that has a rsut hole at the bottom of the 'A' pillar, i was offered and then bought a 1998 300TDi auto SE, i am pretty sure the engine or at least the head has been heated too far and there is a question on the box but other wise the disco is in better nick than the one i am currently driving.
i'm going to use the motor and gearbox from the 1994 car and insert it into the 1998, what are the pros and cons hooking up the transmission cooler in the 1998 to the current oil cooler pipes routed through the radiator and then through the cooler and then back to the engine?
also the immobilizer on the 1998 (1994 disco has none) is it the same as the series 2 discos? as i have heard you cant park out front of a certain chemist here in Brisbane due to non starting issues

Just use the standard engine oil cooler in the rad, too much stuffing around to use the trans cooler and probably nothing to be gained by it.
Otherwise the rest is just a bolt in job, the immobiliser is part of the alarm ECU in late D1's but never heard of issues like those that some D2's had.

I have only ever heard of the alarm/chemist shop issue on D2's
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I don't know the laws in Qld. about fitting an earlier model engine (94 into 98), but in NSW and I imagine other states as well it is illegal to fit an earlier model engine into a later model car, as it circumvents pollution/emission laws.
May have to get it engineered, or if Qld. allow it, don't cross the border, BIG fine, Regards Frank.

I dont think it will be a problem Frank, there werent any changes in that year range regarding emissions.
