Ram housing stuck on
Hey folks,
I am in the process of replacing my injectors at the moment.
Got the process down to the ram housing but it wont come off.
Plenum chamber came off fine. Undid the 6 bolts that hold the ram housing down, but it wont budge at all. It wont move a millimeter.
I put the plenum housing back on with 4 bolts and tried to use it as a lever but still no action.
Any tips?
A big flat screw driver would work at the join, but i don't want to damage mating surfaces.
Maybe the gasket gunk that was put on has over 20 odd years baked itself real solid.
There has to be any easy way?
Thanks!

I would first check that all the bolts are loose and or removed and then tap with a Rubber mallet

Buy a tin of aerosol Gasket Stripper and spray around gasket joints, you may have to do it a few times, but if it is the gasket cement/goo holding it on the stripper will sort it, Regards Frank.

Thanks guys. Good suggestions as always.
In case anyone else has the same problem in the future - I ended up getting the housing off with some well applied force.
The inlet manifold actually has 2 metal guides (shown in my pic below)that stick into the ram housing mating surface. So tapping the ram housing sideways is no good, the only choice is to lift it straight up.

So i got a block of wood on the rocker cover and a jemmy bar, and with two light taps with a hammer down onto the end of the bar the housing popped straight off.

Replacing the injectors with a new set was a mongrel of a job but my new mustang injectors make my V8 disco fairly scoot down the road!
Chalk another job up in my saga of land rover ownership!

Nice to know. Might give mine a clean out soon. How many km are on yours?

I put the disco over 400,000kms a couple of weeks ago!
The pic of the ram trumpets is actually after i cleaned them.
They were pretty filthy before that!
