Thread: Choosing new Tyres...wow there's a lot, bit of help plz?

So I'm on the new tyre bandwagon and it's very confusing. Every time I think I've made up my mind something else takes my attention away...so I'm asking for help

So my Disco has a great set of Cooper ATRs on it but although they're hardly worn, they are pretty old, I just hardly drive the old girl but if I ever took her on a serious trip I'm not sure if I'd trust them given their age.

I also drive a new 2016 Mazda BT50 4x4 dual cab for work, I'm a surveyor and find myself in rural areas more these days needing to do some decent off road'ing and needing to get out of stickier situations than the crappy factory tyres let me.

So I'm going to get a new set of tyres for the work truck, and use them as an audition for when I buy a set myself for the Disco.

Currently the work truck has factory Dunlop Grandtrek AT20s on it...80% road and 20% off. Pretty hopeless for anything other than bitumen.

Most of the guys at work replace their tyres with Goodyear Wranglers, probably the All Terrain Adventurer ones. Good tyres, but I'm looking for something slightly more aggressive than those.

I've narrowed it down to a few:

• - Goodyear Wrangler All Terrain Adventure.
  - Dunlop AT3G (no idea about these but they look decent in the pic).
  - General AT2.
  - Yoko GO12.
  - Dick Cepek...this is where I think I'm leaning...I really like the Dick Cepek Fun Country and the guy at the shop even suggested the Extreme or the Mud Country, but these might be a little too off-road for what I want.

So not really "narrowed", but any info on any of these would be great. Like I said, I'll be buying some for the work truck soon but trying them out so when I buy a new set for my Disco I'll hopefully be happy.

The Dunlop and Goodyear ones are the easy options of that list, but I want something slightly more aggressive than a 50/50 tyre if possible.

The General AT2 is meant to be great, like a BFG I hear but without the price tag.

I've gotta say, I really REALLY like the look and sound and reviews of the Dick Cepek tyres. The new Fun Country looks like it might be just what the doctor ordered, unless someone wants to tell me otherwise.

I need it to be nice on the highway, but when I take it off road into mud or snow or onto sticky crap I want a better chance than the Good Year Wranglers which are a pretty standard (but excellent) all terrain.

What do you all think, and more so about the new Dick Cepek Fun Country as a tyre for my work truck and then for my Disco soon?

I have BFG ATs on the D1 as the "highway and byway" tyre and find them excellent. They work well offroad in anything short of real mud. For play tyres I have a set of Maxxis MTs which have been good. However you can't use a mobile phone through Blue Tooth with the Maxxis on!
