Discovery exhaust mods - P38 manifolds?

I've just posted a quick ?hello? in the introductions section? but hello again for thoughts who haven't seen it!

I've not long since bought a 1997 Discovery 1 3.9 with a manual ?box. It's done 127,000 miles and, although well looked after, is showing signs of camshaft wear. I've bought a crower 299 camshaft from v8tuner.com and a Thor inlet manifold is due to arrive tomorrow which I'll replace the earlier hotwire manifold with. It's currently got a single point LPG mixer so I'm also planning to fit multipoint LPG injectors to this new manifold before swapping it over. The whole lot will be run from an Emerald programmable ECU which can drive two sets of injectors and has three selectable fuel and ignition maps.

Looking beyond these initial modifications the standard cast exhaust manifolds look particular poor design but I see the Rangerover P38 came with much nice looking stainless tubular items. Does anybody know if these will fit? When I say ?fit? I mean miss all the important bits like chassis rails and anything else that's going to cause a real head ache! Looking at the positioning of the down pipes, I realise I'd need to change these also (and the cats) but again, anybody know if the P38 down pipes would also swap over? My plan at this point gets a bit fussy but generally seems to revolve around fitting a free flowing, chambered centre silencer like a flowmaster followed by the original system to the back.

Generally I'm looking to maximise low to midrange torque whilst keeping it nice and quiet and looking as standard/OEM as possible.

    Much appreciated! Toby

Even if they do fit, the P38 manifolds have a flex joint which often cracks over time. P38 owners either put up with a small leak, spend time searching for decent manifolds or fit a replacement set (extractors).
IMO, you'd be better off with an "off the shelf" aftermarket set.

While the standard manifolds might look a "particularly poor design" they are exceptionally good and really when cost is taken into account not really worth changing.
