    Head Rest Grab Handles

    Hi all,
have had a bit of a look around but can not seem to find any information on this.
Has anyone ever taken the handles off to fit a car seat cover?
If so how did you do it because I am either not looking in the right place or am potentially just stupid and not seeing it

I certainly couldn't find any that fit well enough when I went looking around 5 years ago. Ended up buying a custom set of neoprene seatcovers from a mob in Vic. They weren't cheap but have certainly endured!

Search Youtube for the Exmoor trim videos on fitting a new seat cover - IIRC you have to get the old cover mostly off before the retaining clips for the headrest can be accessed - they are 2/3 of the way up the seat back buried in the foam under the cover.

My problem wasn't really the head rest but the grab handles built into the top part of the seat. I didn't want them covered up so they could still be accessed by passengers in the back. My custom made seat covers have velcro on them to wrap under the handles. You might be able to find seat covers that fit your particular D1 but I wasn't able to. Note that there are several different styles of seats, either without grab handles or 2 different types of grab handles depending on what model D1 you own. See pics below of my seats. I hope that helps.
