First thing I would look at is the brake switch (and if it's a manual clutch switch) which are mounted above the pedals

Check all the airlines (rubber hose) related to it, especially where they join junctions. I had to replace all of mine, just went to Clark Rubber I think and bought it. I did it the cheap way first by cutting out the bad bits at the joins, but then the hose ended up getting to short to do this successfully.

Yeah, apart from checking all the vacuum lines for spilts/cracks/connections and joins .. another easy thing to check for is if the wire connector at the butterfly/accelerator linkage is connected.

Something else to look for is the fuse, #18 in the main fuse panel. Although less likely as you'd assume that if the fuse has blown, it'd cut power to the dash switch(ie., no orange light)
Easy way to check the fuse is to check the workings of the rear screen washer pump and or the electric mirrors, which are all on the same fuse.
fuse #18 is the last one on the shorter vertical column(next to the long vertical column).

IIRC the pump is under the jack mount tray behind the left hand headlight. BUT the first thing to check is all the hoses and joins.
