Help with Door/Window Problems
So I finally found a D1 (1997) to replace the one that rolled on Cape York.
There is a bit to do to get it up to an acceptable standard. The disco will over stay its welcome real fast if it locks us in/out and refuses to wind windows up. Pretty much all the locks and windows are glitchy!
First up: Drivers window
The drivers window can wind all the way down until the regulator cogs loose traction with the motor, and then the window cannot come back up. I can solve this by putting a bit of wood at the bottom of the door to stop the regulator dropping too far, but I would like to know what has caused this to happen. What normally stops the regulator from being wound off the cogs?

After further investigation, I've figured it out - I think
The regulator runs out of teeth to a raised flat section, usually this stops the motor gear from progressing any further. This endpoint must be worn down enough for the motor gear to jump out. A rubber/foam bump stop seems like a better way to stop the regulator/motor. I noticed two unused mount holes/brackets in the base of the door at either end that are inline with the window as it comes down. Hmmm
