Complete fluid change D1 200 - What to use

Doing a complete fluid change...as in EVERYTHING

Just need some advice on which oils everyone uses.

This will be a 503,234Km service

    First thing.

It has not used engine oil in the 3k that I have owned it. Oil is still good

    Belt was done at 450k,

Box shifts well, but can be notchy if you dont get it right when cold....ironically....it shifts as good as the Celica 5 speed I have in my morry ute ( worked 948..bored to 1044...Waggott cam...etc )

Coolant issue is in a separate thread, but thinking of running a radiator flush thru it

Have done some reading and apparently I should use MTF 94 in the gearbox

Looks like Nulon will be used for all oils all round ( next door is a mechanic shop...terrible I know )

Any suggestions on what to use oil & grease wise that works

It has this wine that is hard to hear unless the window is down, and you poke your head out the window, and in 2nd or 3rd.....and really listening for it

Also worried that it is not using much diesel

me personally i wouldnt use nulon oil on a wheelbarrow wheel much less something i like

engine oil would be penrite hpr diesel 15w50

gearbox oil would be castrol syntrans 75-80 (mtf is okay if you dont go anywhere hot )

i normally use caltex havoline 80w-90w in the transfer case, diffs and swivels.

flush the radiator with barsleaks radiator cleaner or tectalloy mukowt

i've heard the nulon coolant is okay and i've actually just bought a few bottles of premix to use in the 300tdi i just bought... never thought i see the day

DOT 4 bake fluid of any reasonable brand including nulon will do the job..

    all IMHO

mmm...getting conflicting stories about MTF 94...the Castrol syntrans looks the same as the Penrite 75w-80 semi-synth gearbox oil

Is MTF94 something more suited to colder climate ?

no idea, dont use it but if you look at the temp range graph that land rover give you it certainly appears thats the case.

Ah yes, just looked them up. Penrite is a semi-synth, Castrol full synth

Might end up coming down to what I can get as they will both do the same job at the end of the day

Penrite has a full synth version - ProGear 75-85. And it is way cheaper than the syntrans.

Well she got done earlier this week

Ended up going with with Penrite TransGear 75-80. ( thats the MTF94 spec one ) The Progear Penrite was worth more than the car...and Syntrans was more again and only could find 1ltr of it

The upshot is that The shift feels a little bit smoother, but due to its age its hard to tell. Old ATF was still really good that came out

The transfer box oil was pretty thick and ordinary and there was a small amount of fine metal particals from the diffs, but nothing major to worry about

    Update

The Penrite TransGear 75-80 is working very well

Mind you its been mid to high 30* up here for a while and will get hotter

Shifting very nicely, and I would say better than the Dex3, just feels a little bit smoother

The box has its grumpy periods in 2nd but I I know when its happening so just a matter of slowing the shift right down and letting it do its thing, but overall it feels very good

Drive train is nice and quiet after oil change, but was never noisy... I can hear a whine sometimes...but it sounds natural
