Thread: Slave cylinder pushrod clip

Hey folks,

Does anyone run their manual disco without the little black clip that holds the slave cylinder pushrod too the end of the release fork?

I replaced a slave cylinder yesterday and it turns out the little clip was broken. I reinstalled everything without the clip and it works fine. Is their any chance of the rod rattling out of the little groove or does the passive clutch pressure suffice in keeping it centered?

On a side note, how hard is the clutch pedal meant to be on a 300TDi?
I have a v8 disco and a 300tdi disco and the 300tdi is easier to push down. It is a new clutch and it engages/disengages with the pedal about 1 inch off the floor, whilst the v8 bites about 2 inches of the floor. New slave and master cylinder. Just wondering if that is normal. Presumably the bite point will move out as the clutch wears.
Different brand clutches in them though...
