But a river crossing is only a brief event whereas prolonged driving in rain would subject the electricals to sustained water pressure, making water entry more likely.

I'm thinking instead of roof mounted, maybe better doing it as a diffuser, mounted with hydraulic rams to adjust it according to speed.
May help keep a bit more downforce on the front to help with front end grip on those insanely fast landrovers! [biggrin]
And if angled just right, could help direct some cool air under the bonnet to help keep under bonnet temps in check too!
