This is on the one we have. Directly over the turbo. Don't know if it makes a difference to operating temps.

Look up the thread on Google at the bottom of the page titled" My "Saudi" grille " .Note the quotes around Saudi.

I don't know how it works as the car has never been over 100C even towing my camper up the Alpine way but I feel that it is quite efficient.
It usually runs at 82-85 even on a plus 35C day.

It reminds me of the NASA style scoop that my Porsche 924 turbo had over the turbo.
I think in that case it was to let the hot air out from the turbo after shutdown and I think yours will do the same.

Looked at the Hood Louvers page from the pic of the disco posted on the previous page,

    Medium Powder-Coated Semi-Gloss Black Hi-Flow™ - Hood Louvers | RunCool | Hood Vents For Your Vehicle -

I dont mind the look of these and they would fit similar to the ones in the pic shared on the previous page, i've emailed them to see if they'll post to Oz.

Not sure though, why an mx5 would require those? Bit like putting a spoiler on a Disco1, where the wind drag created and extra weight would slow the vehicle down enough that it couldn’t even reach a speed that would create the down force it was meant to create

I did wonder why they fitted ones so big as well, they've done it on a few cars on the site.

    Hi Ace,

This was already fitted when we bought the D1. The previous owner towed 20ft plus vans to and from NSW with it.

Current temps a bit erratic on the added temp gauge. Getting it checked out.
Original LR gauge never moves from the under half position.

    Under 90kms sit 80-90c

Cruise 100-110kms pops up to 100c

    Big hills a bit higher.

Don't know if the added scoop helps - probably, as it helps get rid of engine bay heat, but can't compare it to without one.

    Time for radiator check, replacement?

    Regards

Yes. And maybe get rid of spotlights , check that bullbar has same venting as original bumper bar. Big loops would not help.

First check that air con condenser, radiator are clean.
