Auto trans leaking
G'day all,
I recently decided to move forward 20 years in Land Rover tech and add a 1993 Disco 1 Rossignol to the fleet which my daughter has christened the "Big Green Truck" . Its in average condition and needs a bit of maintenance to get it up to speed. This is my first attempt at working on anything post 1976 and as such i am getting my head around all the different systems. As the auto trans fluid looked like it needed a refresh, I attempted the trans filter change this weekend with very little success. Firstly I couldn't find a place that the cross member (unbolted) would sit which would give me access to the auto trans pan to fully remove it. I am sure someone can provide me with a tip of where it needs to go. The much bigger issue is that was undoing the auto tran drain plug, I found out that someone had crossthreaded it and now I broke the seal and it is stuck, unable to tightened or loosened. I have done it up the best i can but i am now just bleeding everywhere. Is this time for a new pan?
Any help, ideas or tips would be great.
regards
Ben
