Transfer case mount remvoval
I have had my V8 Discovery checked for a road worthy. One of the items on the list is the lower left transfer case mount. A some what difficult item to remove. Am I right in assuming that you need to remove the upper right mount first? The four bolts holding the lower left mount to the transfer case are both tight and difficult to get a spanner on. The mont over time has compressed and expanded in diameter which makes getting a socket onto the bolts virtually impossible. I am hoping that I can get the chassis rail mount of first. This would give me better access to the four transfer case bolts.

The chassis side mount is only held on by three 8mm bolts through the chassis. The bolts into the TC usually come out with a 19mm ring spanner and your choice of lever or forcing tool. Fiddly but not as hard as it looks.

I dont recall it being a very hard job dropping the TC mate.
Have you tried a pipe on the end of the spanners for leverage or another spanner on the end sort of thing?
From my memory (not great) they were tight but not overly hard to access.

As I posted in my first post the mount had compressed and grown in diameter. This made getting either a socket or ring end of a spanner onto the bolt heads near impossible. What I did was cut the stud of. This allowed the removal of the chassis mount. Then I could get a socket onto the bolts. Easy enough after that. Would have rounded the heads of with the open end of the spanner as those bolts where nipped up tight.
