In need of a shock tower...

    Hey folks,

I am over near Wagga Wagga on another big trip from WA and find myself in need of a shock tower for my 97 Disco 1 300TDi.
Any forum members over this way have a spare one laying about or know which wreckers here are likely to have one?
My shock tower had seen one too many corrugated tracks i think and the base has fractured off...

    Thanks!

Are you definitely sure it's the shock tower? .. and not just the retainer ring(eg. captive bolts broken).

Mine had a couple of the retaining bolts broken, so the nuts obviously stopped 'nutting' down the tower to the chassis.

I've replaced my towers with tube types now(much easier to play with shocks).
So I have both my originals as spares .. free to good home, except I'm about 4hrs south of you.
    Arthur.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

I'm back home in WA now, but thanks for the offer Arthur!

Yup it was definitely the shock tower - two of the bolt holes in the base of the tower had fractured off from the rest of the tower, with one having a big bit of metal missing.

After a few phone calls i found a great place called Clarke Automotive in Wodonga that although being a standard mechanic shop appears to specialize in working on Landys.

They have a big yard full or land rovers they are dismantling!! It was like heaven!

I picked up a shock tower from them and fitted it myself.
