Its not a literal thing. Well i never thought so. Its a term. You basically need to seat your bearings before you torque them. Thats all this is.
How far you "torque" them before you back them off is really arbitrary so 1/4 a turn or 1 flap or whatever anyone says is just bull****. **** it would depend on how far you packed them with grease before also if you want to get technical. But someone here will argue with that also like the torque bull****!
Its really a feel thing as most things are!
But people want to be CORRECT all the time so im stepping back. I hope your car works out well man. I wont be contributing to the discussion though.

Agree, its as much a feel thing as anything. 5 people will come up with 5 different methods to end up at the same spot.
Method that works for me, is to tighten nut to reasonably firm, while spinning wheel/hub. Slacken off and tighten up again to JUST feel it starting to take up, while spinning wheel/hub, just taking bearing end float out. I generally monitor hub temps for the 1st 100k or so after doing this, too tight = higher temps.
To go by the book, and your setting bearing end float with a dial gauge.....this can be a PITA.
