Couldn't get the d1 started this morning (funny)

So this morning I went to start my car to leave for work at about 5 30. Keys always in it at home so I went to fire it up......nothing all lights were coming on as normal but no crank no matter how many times I turned the key.
1st thing that come to mind was the immobilizer so I pulled the key out closed the door and locked it and unlocked it a few times. Still nothing, so I spent 20 mins checking fuses with nothing to be found. Had a poke around the engine bay and checked the battery with a multi all good, pulled the terminals off the battery for 5 mins still couldnt find anything. By now I was starting to crack the sads.
Hopped in the driver's seat and pulled my phone out to start googling, and then it caught my eye...THE GODDAMN T BAR WAS IN DRIVE!!!!!
How much of an idiot I felt like but how relieved I was. It was pitch black and no interior light so I didn't notice it. I spent at least 30 mins looking for the problem it's just not the 1st thing that pops to mind though.

Anyway hope you all get a laugh out of it!

    Cheers Jim

    LOL!

Did same once with my Tdi too.
My drive is on a bit of a slope(not much), but I like to put it in N first, handbrake, then let it rest, and then in P, so it doesn't bind the trans.

Once late at night(maybe 1AM or later) I did the routine, but instead of trans in P, I went back to D .... late night brain fade I guess.

Next day at about lunch, of course it won't start, and as I had battery issue with a brand new battery, my first thought was battery again!.

Nup! .. just as you found ... it won't turn over when in D.
    Arthur.

I don't feel so bad now as, at least, mine was in "R" which is a lot closer to "P"
