    Long(ish) trip pre maintenance

    Hey All
After much stuffing around with the timing and adjusting all the sensors over and over again I've finnaly got the old pig running good like REALLY good. No more misfiring or feathering at idle and the fuel consumption is on the mend.
So ive decided to take it for a trip to see my old man over Christmas. I'm heading from Melbourne way to Port Macquarie about 1200 ks each way. It's not a massive trip but the longest I've gone in disco.
I will be with a 7 month old and the wife so we will be stopping for breaks when the baby kicks up a stink. And we won't be doing any offroading except maybe the beach.
I have to make sure it runs smoothly otherwise the wife will torch the disco on the side of the road. I've done the trip to Sydney a heaps of times at all hours but never in the disco
It's done 375xxx ks and the books been stamped through it's whole life up to 320ish so its been looked after but I don't know exactly what else has been done.
I'm going to give it a good service before leaving as well as the transmission and cooling system. It's no doubt going to be 35 degrees plus so cooling is important. I'm thinking by Christmas I want to do at the minimum.

    Oil
    Trans
    Coolant flush
    Grease all nipples
    Serpentine belt and keep old
    Rear diff oil
Rear wheel bearings re grease at minimum
    Longer range spot lights
    Donut and keep old
And a few small things like wipers because it always hammers around Xmas and new head lights.

If I can afford to I'd like to get a bull bar by then but I'm hoping I'm not driving at the peak roo times and if I am I will be going easy I've had too many hits from them already. And if money allows a new starter and water pump just in case.
I always carry plenty of spares, tools, oils and water. If anyone's got any thoughts to make a trip like this run smoothly I'd love to hear them.

    Cheers Jim
