So; You know single malt scotch eh mate. I belong to another forum where they know everything from SM Scotch to rotary engine aeroplanes, so it shouldn't surprise if this forum is full of knowledgeable people too A bloke we know is a great SM Scotch man and I think I have converted him to Balvenie but every time we meet, he trots out something different (he is a really good bloke). One time he had some really smokey stuff. Laphroag??
A whole bottle might be a bit rich come to think of it Fausto. How about I drink to your health instead

As promised, today was the day but there was a hitch. El Cheapo got its advice wrong and the sump plug gaskets do not fit. For reference and FWIW, my car takes a 21mm internal diameter washer. Did a ring around locally to no avail and emailed Roverlord. To my surprise he rang me, all the way from Victoria! As luck would have it, I was out and he mailed me later with a part number. Tried to order but could not figure out how to do it either on his website or his ebay shop. Curses foiled again as Oilcan Harry would say.
BUT my wife recalled a mob that I had forgotten and sure enough, they had some so it's on for tomorrow
Another bit of good luck 1) Having the huge sheet of plastic under the car makes sliding around quite easy
    2) The oil does not spew all over the exhaust pipes and goes straight into the the whopping great catcher I bought

If the oil didn’t hit the exhaust, guessing you did it cold. From memory the sump plug is 1/2” BSPP, quite odd in the automotive world, usually unf or metric.

I did do it cold Rick. Can't hide anything from you blokes can I
Do you use something to keep the hot oil off the pipes, like a sheet of tin? It looks very awkward to get something in there and thanks for the heads up. Would never have expected there to be a difference between hot and cold oil
Picked up my sump plug gaskets this a m. Another surprise: they are the "wind-on" type. Never heard of such a thing.

I was expecting metric but the hexagon is 1.130 inches or 28.702mm according to Google. I gave up and used a shifter.
