    Hunting at idle

3.5 V8 Jan 91 model. Been having trouble with excessive fuel consumption, engine hunting and stalling at idle. Did some searching and found a thread that recommended check coolant temp sensor and resisitance on MAF. Coolant sensor was at 280 ohms and MAF was at 425. The guide was for MAF resistence to be 40 I think, I can't find the thead again.
I adjusted the MAF back to 100 and it seems to run a lot smoother. Can anybody tell me what a target figure would be for MAF resistence? 40 seems a long way back from 425

Check the MAF for volts on the 2 outside wires, should be around 1v if not dial it down there's a screw hole on top. I've been experimenting with the MAF a little as I can't find an exact figure I keep getting crossed messages. I was at 1.35 but dialed it down to 1v this morn and drove for for 3 hours without an issue. Noticed a bit better fuel consumption at 100ks with headwind and a.c today also. Mines a 3.9 stepper no o2 sensors but should be the same for you with the 3.5. Also check your TPS and adjust base idle if needed too. I adjusted my TPS and it made a world of difference.
    Cheers Jim

Thanks Jim, have you seen the figure quoted as resistence in ohms? Took it for a drive into town this afternoon, no hunting at idle, a lot smoother, seems to have more power. Will be interesting to see how K's/L goes.

A reference i often go back to is this website Lucas 14CUX Fuel Injection System – Installation and Diagnostic Notes. - ACT Performance Products - your source for after market TVR upgrades, components and performance accessories.

It has all the values needed to tune the 14CUX.

1.4 is the number i aim for when setting the maf.

Thanks Damink I will recheck it with the meter on volts instead of resistance. Disco is running very well now no sign of hunting and seems more power and smoother.
