    OBD2 Port Issue

Hi all, I’ve got an issue with my 99 Discovery1 V8i OBD2 port. My scanner is powering on but can’t communicate with the port. Any suggestions or even a direction you legends can point me in??

I am sure someone will be along shortly with accurate info but I am not sure the OBD2 port has a lot of functionality on a D1. You did mention it is a 99 model, so definitely D1 ???? as the last Series 1 Disco's were made in 98 with Aus compliance in 99.

The D1 isn't OBD compliant to an extant you need test book or some other dealer program.
You have the v8i so that's the 14cux fuel injection. You can get a free program from the internet called rovergauge, and you either make or buy a cable and wire it to you ecu. A lot of people have done it, I havnt yet it's been in the list for a long time now. You can do quite a bit in it but personally I havnt tried it yet.
That's the link to it, there's a couple of threads floating around on it also. GitHub - colinbourassa/rovergauge: Display/diagnostics utility for Rover 14CUX ECU
    Cheers Jim

LOL!, yeah, mines a supposed '99 model too(says on the compliance plate) .. but it's built in 98(like pop said).

Just be careful when you order some bits from less knowledgeable places like your Repcos, and Bursons types.

eg. say you want brake pads, or oil filter(actually oil filter is probably the same, but I digress!) .. any part from one of these less knowledgeable places, you're best to tell them it's a 98 or 97 .. they waste less time looking at D2 part numbers and asking wrong questions!
    Arthur.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

Im not sure about discos, but other imported vehicles seem to have different dates on different plates. One date is a manufactured date the other is Australian compliance date. Some dates can be 6 months apart. Also not forgetting car manufacture dates run from 1st October, say 2017, to 30 September, say 2018, the next year. So if ur car was manufactured November 2017 its actually a 2018 year model.

One of my D1s was built in 6/98 (last D1 was built on 26/8/98 BTW) and has a 3/99 Aus compliance, so 9 months apart.
