    300TDi Cylinder liners

    Hey folks,
Can you guys school me all about the 300TDi and cylinder liners as I am planning on rebuilding a 300TDi.

Did the 300TDi have liners from the factory? Because i have seen a few rebuild kits around for the 300TDi and none of them have new sleeves included...
Does it need liners - can you remove them and just run the pistons in a bored/honed block?

Will i need to buy new sleeves and take them to the machine shop when my block gets measured up?

I presume the block wont be worn but the sleeves will be? So the machine shop will press in the new sleeves and machine the new sleeves back to fir standard sized pistons?

Mate happy to be told otherwise but I believe 300 tdis do not have sleeves.

    Thank goodness for that!

So in what instance are people putting liners in them? Only when the bore is too worn to be bored out anymore?

    Thanks!

We have sleeved them in the past due to worries about porosity caused by not running corrosion inhibitors. Had a few with water leaks through the cylinder walls over the years.

    Okey dokey. Thanks.
I'm just realizing how much it costs to get injectors and an injector pump rebuilt...
I guess that's why petrol engines are cheaper to rebuild...

you just buy new injectors if youre willing to wait UK ones come up cheaper than rebuilding them, occasionally cheaper than testing them.

I was told that my injectors weren't worth testing as they had done almost 400,000kms.
So i was quoted $150 each to rebuild them... not sure if that is a good price or not.
At them moment i can only see a few lots of injectors for sale around the place. I am a bit worried about some injectors online that are claimed to be genuine Bosch injectors but being cheaply priced...
