I agree that EVs are part of the future vehicle mix, but they won't be as big as Bill wanted them to be in the short term.
Im not talking about the world in general. We don't make cars anymore so local politics isn't going to influence what happens here. The rest of the world is moving to EV in a hurry , no one will be making ICE in 10 years so we will get what the rest of the world demands.Quote:

Still not convinced. One thing that did occur to me a few months ago though, when i was working on a large road project that is designed for a long way into the future, is that in a few years time we will probably all be flying automated drones and roads will become obsolete.

i have to say the Cummins customer service is top notch here. The guy was very quick to answer and very informative. Took his time to answer my stupid questions.
here's the convo after he told me the 2.8 was 15k:
Me: sorry to bother you again. Do you guys supply also the Cummins 4BT engines?
Him: Not as an Automotive Engine, only 4BTA off highway industrial Engines.
Me: Is there much difference? Could it be converted to an automotive application?
Him: It is 24V so you would need to change to 12V electrics. The aftercooler may stick out the bonnet so you would have to convert it back to a 4BT. Although it would look awesome with it hanging out.
Plus the turbo is a high mount arrangement, So that would also be hanging out the bonnet. You would have to fit a different exhaust manifold and convert it to a low mount turbo arrangement like most Automotive Engines to reduce the height of the Engine.
Plus the Engine does not have an Automotive Governor so the throttle would probably be very touchy
