The flasher unit has been checked and is ok. The connections to all the headlights, side lights and indicators are ok. The light and indicator stalk switches are ok.
Hi Guys
I need your help again.
Discovery one hazard lights are flashing when using my indicators. Also, so are my reverse lights and my side lights come on as well. I have tried to diagnose and find the problem. All to no success!!
The car is currently at the Auto electricians in Albany (WA). He called me in today to show me the problem. He can get all the front lights to work ok by disconnecting the plug to the rear under the dashboard and all the front works ok. BUT when plugged back in it all goes wacky again. This means the fault is somewhere between the connection to the rear wiring loom under the dashboard and the back.
The problem is the auto electrician cannot find any join or module backwards from under the dashboard to the rear lights etc. There must be one somewhere and my question is:
Does any body know where the module/connection is hiding so he can unplug it and see if it makes a difference. This way he can tell if that section of the wiring harness is ok or not and then he can narrow it down.
I am sorry if the above is confusing, but I hope I have explained it clearly enough.
In anticipation, thank you all and have a beaut day - See Ya - Gerry![]()

Check the grounding (return path) - I had a similar problem in a circuit once and it turned out to be an IC's protection diodes were being used as the return path, as the main GND had become open circuit. Might take a while but jiggling some wire harnesses could show up the problem.
On a hunch ... does the D1 have a towbar and (by implication) a plug for the trailer?
If so, I'd be checking the trailer plug for faults first. Could be corrosion, or flaky/loose/degraded wiring feeding back or something like that.
If that has been checked, then the next steps would be to check the actual rear light units each, disconnect each one separately and see if they help to solve the symptoms.
Light units aren't the easiest to remove, but far easier than tracing the wiring, removing trims to find ... etc.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

Well thanks guys. The problem is found and I caused it when I drilled this hole in the roof for the Solar Panel cable to be able to charge the battery. I drilled through the rear wiring loom that runs between the double skinned roof at the corners. So, $450 later the problem is found but not fixed. That is my job. Hmm that Solar was cheap hey? hahahahahaha thats life!!
