    300tdi timing cover

Hi guys i recently replaced the timing belt on our 300tdi. While i was going i replaced the timing cover with a brand new one off ebay. On starting the engine the ac belt comes off a couple teeth on the ac compressor. Looking at the lower pulley which mounts to the timing cover the pulley appears to be too close to the engine making the belt run out of alignment. Ive tried contacting the store , twice to see if they have seen this before but still havent heard back from them. Has anybody else had this issue before?

the lower pulley is bolt on, can you add some spacing shims to bring it back in line?
    Cheers,
    Arthur.

Yea i looked at doing that , im bit weird about doing it though because they will have to go on the inside of the bearing, and the amount needed would make the pulley sit on the end of the stub on the timing cover. The force of the belt might put too much stress on the timing case and shear or crack out the cover.
