    ABS sender ohm readings

    Hi guys,

My son's '95 D1 V8 has the ABS light on. Normally caused by loose front wheel bearings which happens every 6 months, which we check, retighten, tap the sender down and job done. This time it's not working. We did the flashing light code read which indicated the front right sensor. So I disconnected the plug and used the ohm meter. I got an initial reading then nothing. So curiosity got the the better off me and tried the front left and a rear sensor. Got the same result. On the rear sensor I got a reading off 960ohm then nothing after that.

So the question is why would I get an initial reading and then zilch when repeating the test? Any ideas please?

Incidentally, as I wasn't sure when I last replaced the battery in the multi meter I bought and installed a new one just in case.
I've also done a search and got plenty of D2 results but am unsure if they apply to the D1?

    Cheers, James NZ

The hall sensor is not a resistor, its a semiconductor, don't expect a result from an ohm meter, Perhaps the meter is providing some EMF to the sensor which it returns as a reading like you might see from a capacitor,

you need to pass some metal back and forth over the sensor to get an on - off -on -off result which you might see with a voltmeter / ohm meter .
