Sorry to hear that mate. Like Pedro I feel your pain. It's only because I got a donated 4.0 that I'm persevering. Cheers
OK, the Blknight method it is. Thinking about it, Ol' Mates method effectively uses up another three of the maximum five re-uses of the bolts...
Getting a degree wheel from Supercheap tomorrow and will be sure to thoroughly clean the bolts holes again.
Thanks for all contributions.

you dont need one, search up in my threads theres a comprehensive how to hit all the angles with just a paint pen, scribe and a 12 point socket.
do go and get the longest 1/2 inch breaker bar and the tallest deep reach socket you can find. Preferably impact if you're using the 6 point bolts.

Interestingly after 2 years I checked my TD5 head bolts and at least a third of them were easily able to be tightened up to the torque of the others😐
So my faith in new stretch bolts was shaken a bit. ...
Re Turner heads. ..do they have a habit of failing? Only saying cause a local I know of had a terrible run with 2 them??
Realise than n=1 means nothing tho☺
It also pays to remember that specified torque settings and actual torque settings are dependant on the type
of thread lubricant, IE lubed thread torque could be 10% (say) less than a dry thread. It's a major variable though,
so as someone's suggested already, go for the middle ground and re-torque the bolts in a week or two of running.
Some vehicle workshop manuals note this sort of thing, but a few don't, other than specifying the type of lubricant
they (the company) recommends, for purely commercial reasons.
Also make sure your torque wrench is calibrated correctly and test block for warping. My AMC head has been fine. Got the performance one. Cannot comment on quality of porting as I’m no expert, but i think Rick130 said quality was average. The head though works well for me. Since new head though, the car has a tendency to idle low at first start up for a few seconds and then go to normal revs. Never understood why but hasn’t had any issues.
Replaced the head on my 97 D1 over 50k ago....purchased a new (apparently improved cooling) head - OEM from Britpart. Touchwood, it keeps rolling on. Now up to about 330k on the vehicle. Installed MadMan engine monitoring at the time of replacement......absolutely critical to have this. Good luck.
