    +2" shock options?

My rear shocks are due for replacement and i am trying to find other option that are available. They have to be +2" shocks and they seem pretty rare with not many options around.

I currently run Terrafirma 4-stage adjustable +2" shocks.

Anyone know of other +2" shocks available?

    Thanks!

Do you mean shocks that are 2" longer in open length, 2" longer in travel or to suit a 2" suspension lift?
    Cheers

Bilstein do a set suitable for a 2" lift. I am assuming that is what you mean as that is what Terrafirma usually mean in their product descriptions.

I went through this a couple of years back when selecting new shocks. I found that EVERY manufacturer had a different closed and open length for their shocks that they claimed suitable for a 2" lift. Some are actually advertising standard length shocks for lifted vehicles which was quite worrying.

You will find that you will have to get the open and close lengths, diameter and mounts for your current shocks (if they meet your requirements), plus your vehicle weight and then look around at what the other manufacturers have to offer. A lot of them won't specify them as suitable for a 2" lifted Disco as they haven't verified/tested it themselves, but they could find something in their catalogue based off of those numbers.

In the end I chose the Terrafirma shocks purely because lots of people have used them, they fit the budget and I was bored of dealing with it all.

They have been pretty good, but I am in the (slow) process of reconfiguring my entire setup (including suspension) as my 300TDi has finally been "promoted" to off-road adventures only and I don't have to worry too much about the on-road performance anymore. Lucky me! It does mean I am going to have to do the run around again, so please, keep us updated on what you choose and why. Haha

I discussed this recently with British OffRoad who recommended Terrafirma as value for money and OME as a higher quality product.

There would be plenty of options

I suggest taking your own measurements pin to pin with axle at full drop and when on bump stop to to be sure the shock open and closed lengths will suit.

The previous owner of my defer had terrafirma fitted on the rear to get through road worthy. One is leaking after 40,000 km. Terrafirma wouldn’t be my first.

I have fitted remote adjustable superior engineering to the fronts, feel they are a bit stiff on the softest setting.

I think I’ll go back to billies or maybe koni , had a good run out of them in my last defer.

I'm looking at the Terrafirma AT shock absorbers at the moment. The pro sports and 4-stage shocks like i have are too expensive to replace when they die!
As was mentioned, i'll measure up the suspension to see how close the supposedly +2" shocks are.

Anyone here used the Terrafirma AT shocks? They are meant to be a bit firmer i think.

Are the shock measurements taken from center of top eye (rear shock) to end of bottom pin? And end-of-pin to end-of-pin for front shocks?

Base of pin to base of pin. (ie. body and shaft end of pin)
Centre of eye to base of pin

    +2" Shocks

Fit Old Man Emu Nitrocharger Sports 60018's to the Front and Nitrocharger Sports 60070's to the rear. You will need to fit the OME Pin type rear top shock mounts, and longer brake hoses front and rear. I have these shocks fitted to my Defender - they work really well with excellent travel andgood body control. Probably the only way to improve on them would be to fit OME BP51's.
