As far as I understand you should be all good. As the two engines are essentially the same Rover V8 base you shouldn't need to even swap bell housings over. All variants of the D1 had the ZF 4HP22 as the auto option. The only differences being in bell housing between the V8's and the diesels.
Someone slightly more knowledgeable than me will pop in soon to confirm or deny.
It should be a pretty simple swap for you other than it weighing a bloody tonne! Haha
