    Transmission swap

So I’m considering purchasing a 1994 Landrover Discovery V8i 3.9 Litre, the car needs a new Automatic transmission. My grandfather has a 1993 V8i 3.5 litre automatic and I’m just curious as to if it will fit in the 3.9 litre. I’ve been searching the web trying to find something on it but have had no luck so I was really hoping someone on here might have some knowledge on this.

Both cars are the 4 door model also.

    Thanks

As far as I understand you should be all good. As the two engines are essentially the same Rover V8 base you shouldn't need to even swap bell housings over. All variants of the D1 had the ZF 4HP22 as the auto option. The only differences being in bell housing between the V8's and the diesels.

Someone slightly more knowledgeable than me will pop in soon to confirm or deny.

It should be a pretty simple swap for you other than it weighing a bloody tonne! Haha

    Have fun!
