    Discovery 1 & 2 rear bumper interchangeability

Hi All. An off road incident in the forests of Jarrahdale WA today has left my 99 Disco 1 with a badly dented and twisted rear bumper. A local is scrapping a 2000 Disco 2. Does anyone know if the rear bumpers are interchangeable?

    Cheers

I don't know if it'll fit but the D2 plastic is far more brittle and less resilient than the D1 stuff and cracks as soon as looking at it.

    I'll have a look when I get home tonight (I've got a 2000 d2 and a 97 d1)

I have one from a 1999 disco 1 in perfect condition, plus I am in Perth, how does a carton of beer sound?
you would of course have to remove it yourself from my donor disco 1. as pictured. what looks like staining is because
picture was taken during rain downpour, it's just typical fading of the outer sections. polishes out easily.

Pm me for details if you want.

My understanding is that they aren't interchangeable. Plus, as had been mentioned, you don't really want to... The D2 ones are super brittle, I've picked many a D2 rear bar bits up off the track after a D2 driver got slightly ambitious with the angle of departure... Hahaha.

My off-road D1's rear bar has been "smiling" for years. At some stage I'll get around to building a decent one out something other than tinfoil.

To reduce the brittleness soak some ATF into the top and side of the bumper. ( I did it once then left it about a week and it had soaked in, then did it again)
When I removed my rear bumper after a hit, I found that the bottom was still pliable.
I remembered an old friend's advice to soak the bars in ATF and the front seems to be less brittle.
I replaced my rear bumper with a steel one so no more problem there.

In Perth, but no reply from OP.
Is the D2 one cheaper than that? it won't fit anyway.
    Your loss.
Right, so for one, this isn't the market section of the forum and therefore you shouldn't be advertising goods for sale.

Secondly, some people are busy and aren't able to check the forum that regularly.

Thirdly, to each their own, he doesn't have to buy your stuff just because you offered it cheap. No point getting upset about it.

    Be reasonable mate.
