Hmmmmm.... D1 multi wire fuel pump .. so must be V8.
But which series/year.
I have RAVE for the 95+ year models, so the series 2 version of the D1 .. or as most folks call it the 'update'.
I'd say the other wires may be related to the fuel tank gauge .. but I'd have thought just the one other wire(colour) and black(being earth).
Haynes manual I have shows pre 95(ie. pre update) wiring diagram .. but is kind of useless to a degree.
Anyhow, it's showing green/black for sender unit power for both pre update and update models for the fuel gauge sender units to gauge.
Check your green wire more carefully too .. maybe the black tracer wire is somehow hard to see.
white wire tho .. sorry can't help.
One thing I've found over the years with old cars ... people do strange things that confuse and disorientate.
Assume that a previous owner/mechanic has modded something when it don't make sense.
eg. say the wiring/earthing for the fuel sender got old and needed replacing .. they only had solid green and white wires to replace with .. etc ...
If you have a multimeter handy .. test the white wire for continuity to earth.
Maybe pull the green wire(if you can) and see if the fuel gauge suddenly dies too. If someone did rewire the fuel gauge wires, and (say) used white for earth .. then pulling the white wire would also kill the any reading on the fuel gauge.
