    Dead Disco

Lost my DI. caught fire and burnt to the ground. The motor had about 1,200 km on it after a full rebuild and it was re-registered a little over a week ago. That's the end of my Land Rover experience. Will sell my parts car, many new parts and other bits such as a full length alloy expedition roof rack.

    Sorry to hear this.

I wonder what the prospects of salvaging or selling the engine are, or does the insurance company own it?

That's really rough, really feel for you, especially after rebuilding the motor.

    Condolences from me too.
So sad for you and to see a D1 in such a bad way.

Any reason for this to happen?

I'm so sorry to hear this. Gutting must be a complete understatement.

Where did that happen? Do you know why or where the fire started?

I hope you can see yourself into another Landy.
    Cheers

Wow. I routinely threaten my D3 with the roadside torch, but I'm not sure I'd really have the gumption to do it.

As others have said, just gutting.
