D1 1997 300tdi Clutch Slave Cylinder
Hi All - Had my somewhat trusty 300tdi for a few years and not really had loads of issues with it hence not being on here as often as others. Appreciate offers of info or educating me along the way...
So..long story cut short....Clutch SC fell off, top bolt fell out somewhere....bottom one broke...fortunately the second bolt broke when i was about to kick it over (so curbside) and not in transit...so the metal clink on the ground i heard was the fork push rod was on the deck and retrivable...I know the bottom bolt is snapped as i could not get the bolt back in and it only approx 17mm long (??)also checked by pushing another slim rod type thing (think it was some random item to hand..when under the car on the street lol)
Anyway so I have fitted top bolt firm - and f me...that was fiddly as there aint much room when u are on the deck underneath...clutch now holding...which should be enough for me to drive home...however i have a broken bolt in the bellhousing which needs to come out so i can put a new bolt in...
Anyone got any ideas? I dont have a ramp so space is a premium as there is alot of other shte down there in the way... so im not sure about those removal kits to get a drill in...or do i bite the bullet and get a local mech to do it? I guess if it was accessible you would try and weld onto the bolt whilst missing the bellhousing...
I would take it to MR Auto as they have looked after it before, in fact they put the MSC in a 3-4 years ago...but thats 20 sets of brisbane traffic lights to get through - and one bolt is obviously just temp job to get it home or to a garage...
Thanks for any suggestions..
also...makes me wonder...how did the first come out...how long ago...and how well will this bolt last...
Thanks guys
L
