    '98 Tdi Steering (bleeding?)

    Hi folks,

    I am a little concerned about a 'cavitation' type sound/feel in my steering.

    Recently replaced PAS pump.

    Didn't bleed the system because my service manual, though usually very good, was pretty light on for detail in this area.

    I now suspect I need to bleed the steering system.

    Problem is, HOW?

    Turn the steering wheel lock to lock a few times and your done

    I just answered how to bleed it, if your steering is still crap, check your belt and its tension, if its still crap, check your front end for stiff components, if its still crap, your fukerated

    Have you done the steering lock to lock with the cap off the resivoir cause thats how you bleed most ps units

    O.K.

    So, why is there a very detailed description on DIY bleeding in my service manual (which, I confess, I don't understand?

    Why doesn't the manual just say; "turn the steering lock to lock a few times after replacing PAS pump and you're done!"?
