    SRS light on

Hi, this car is killing me!!!!!! Just finished changing steering box seal and put everything back together to find the SRS light remains on. Not sure what I could have done to cause this as I didn't muck about with any wires. Once again any suggestions. 1998 Tdi 300 auto

Time to visit somebody who can read the fault: In the meantime, see if a fuse has blown - if SRS doesn't get power, that can trigger the light.

check that you didn't knock the plug to the accelerometer. I think it is on the chassis rail by the steering box.

Code reading is helpful, but they charge you 80 bucks for that.

Mine came on when I killed a battery. Didn't reset when I put a new battery in.

Code returned was "battery was or is low voltage" 80 bucks to reset that >

Being a 1998 model also means that your SRS is due for a service, which I believe is quite expensive. My 95 disco's SRS light came on in 1995 and is still on. I had it reset while it was in for a service, but it came back on again 3 days later.

In the D2 the problem is usually the wiring under the front seats, normally the drivers one.
You just unplug clean the connector re-plug.
    Worth a try.
