    Which discovery to get?

    Hi there,

I'm in the process of selling my S3 to make way for an early discovery. My dad had one when they first came out in Australia, and I remember it being totally awesome.

But which model to get? I'd ideally like a diesel, but I have no idea which year was good, which was bad, how many km are too many, and so on.

My budget is about $6k - will I get something suitable or am I just dreaming?

    Cheers,

    Leon

A $6k Tdi would be a parts car or a fixer upper I think. Would get a nice V8 for that though (I'm talking 94-99 models).

If you are prepared to look further than SE Qld (such as NSW and even Vic) then you will get it cheaper. Qlders seem to think they are gold plated.

I got my 93 200tdi with 212,000km's, 1 owner, reece hitch, dual batteries and R380 box for $8000.

They real gearbox they came with is crap so I was lucky to see the previous owner fitted it with the later model gearbox.

I want the 200tdi because it lacks a computer and I want the pre face lift model (late 94 onwards).

Have a look on ebay but you might be pushing to find a good one for 6k though.
