    Electrical problems

Strange things are happening at the moment.
It all started that when I turned on the light the radio would get no power for a second and a few lights in the dash went on for a few seconds.
Today when I hit the brakes (and the brake lights go on) radio goes off and on again. I turn on the light and the speedo goes to 0 very quick ABS light goes on......
Every time I hit the brakes or indicator the radio turns off. It seems to get better after driving for a while. Also very rare I turn the key and nothing happens. No power at all. Also the rear electric windows sometimes work sometimes not. I checked earth from the battery and that seemed to be ok.

    Suggestions are welcome

    Matt

Sound more like your alternator isn't charging properly - and forgive me if you have already checked this but it is also the body and chassis ends of the earth strap that cause problems. A quick measurement of alt and battery should tell you whats wrong. ( see elect troubleshooting, charging system, RAVE)

    Hi Matt,

Earthing sounds like the problem, but I would check the ignition switch too. They can become loose and fall to bits internally after a while, I have one if you want to try it, takes about 20 minutes to fit. Drop by when you are in town next, I'll dig it out.

    Are the swivels ok?
