    late d2 headlights in d1

Has anyone tried fitting the all in one headlight/indicator out of the later d2 into a d1 update model ie 95. I need two new headlights and two new indicators. If an upgrade is possible this would be the time to do it. I need a bonnet as well but I assume the d2 is wider, just guessing here. I haven't seen a price on the headlights so that might stop the idea.

Sneigy has fitted early style D2 headlights to his D1.

I thought D1's had smaller indicators though????
    Cheers

I think that there is quiet alot of work involved and Ive been told that you have to order a conversion kit from the UK. Might be an idea to stick a set of blacked out headlights from an early D2 and some clear indicators that I know you can get in Australia.

Early d1 is a bit different. I found this site that converts d1 to d2 or early d2 to late d2.

Seems to me if you can do that you should be able to do late d1 to late d2?

    Hi Locorr,
You can make anything fit with a grinder & in this case u will need one.
The front 1/4 panels are shaped differently & wont allow the squarish headlight assembly of the D2a to fit, hence u will need to cut them.
You will then need to cut away some of the radiator/headlight support panel for them to fit as they are a very deep light.
I gave up, too much cutting involved & a lot of expense for really no reason.

They would look terrible in the wrong model. Save your money for some other project.

Thanks for the replies. The cost of the genuine lights is about the same as what I paid for my tdi. Looks like the original view from the front. My plan is to put it on the road by mid year so I still have time to change my mind a few times.
