Ring Triumph Rover in SA and buy a new stalk.
    Contacts burnt out.

    cheers

Or you could try cleaning up the contacts with a "points file".

My rangie had the un-nerving habit of dropping power to the headlights in High beam only, usually around midnight while driving home from work. Fortunately, low still worked.

I pulled out the stalk, buffed up the contacts and she's been great for the last couple of years.

use a dead credit card instead of a points file or it'll happen again but faster.

takes longer to clean up properly with the smoothish plastic of a credit card but it seems to work better for me in the long run.
